If we continue our route sheltered by the city wall, where life goes by slowly and calmly between cobbled streets, we find the Casa del Blanquillo.

Also known as the house of “Las Bolas” due to the original stone balls running along the cornice, this Renaissance mansion constitutes a retreat in which time seems suspended. This palace belonged to one of the richest families in the city, the Almagro family, who decorated its facade with two Santiago shells, as the palace’s founder belonged to this religious order.

Its facade is a clear example of a Plateresque entrance, with the characteristic double window over the main door.

Although its interior has now been transformed into a secluded hotel from which we can enjoy beautiful views over the Guadalquivir valley, in another time it stood out for its columned patio and cellars, which had connections to the Carmelite convent.
