This city gate, preserved in perfect condition, is part of the Arab wall. It gets its name because it was the exit to the old Camino Real de Granada. In fact, according to tradition, Queen Isabel the Catholic passed through here during the Reconquest when she was on her way to the last stronghold of Muslim civilization: the Nazarí kingdom of Granada.

The Granada city gate is small in size and is formed by a simple semicircular arch. Next to it there is a watering place where the town’s cattle drank. Next to the door that is currently preserved there was another, currently closed, of which only traces remain.

Legend has it that there is treasure hidden near the door and that only he who manages to eat a pomegranate on its lintel without a single seed falling on the ground will be able to find it.
