The Mudejar style city gate of Santa Lucia, which formed part of the medieval wall, connected the heart of historical Úbeda with the potters´ quarter of San Millán.
In spite of the fact that it has been reconstructed, it still retains part of the original foundations and arches. The Santa Lucia city gate is situated in a modest square of the same name, sparsely decorated with a stone fountain with two water pipes at its centre.
We find ourselves in the perfect spot to take a break and admire the poetic beauty of the Andalusian landscape from this viewpoint. Here we can delight in the spectacular views which the writer Machado coined “the sea of olive trees”.
