The Vela de los Cobos palace, constructed by Andrés de Vandelvira in the second half of the 16th century, is a must-see in Úbeda not only for its perfectly preserved architecture, but also the treasure trove of furniture, sculptures and paintings inside. In addition, it houses an important library and historical archive as well as a collection of porcelain, clothing, ceramics, and coins.

On its three-storey facade you can see a door with a lintel between Corinthian columns. Above the door there is a sculpture of two warriors holding the coat of arms of Francisco Vela de los Cobos, the developer of the palace. On the second floor, currently occupied by private owners, we find wrought-iron balconies. The corner balcony, very common in the Spanish Renaissance, has a slender marble column, a variant of this type of balcony which was frequently used in Renaissance Úbeda.
